In USA Minneapolis’ local broadcasting station, there is a reporter who is the darling of all hearts. Her name is Darcy Pohland. A disabled woman (general paralysis), is taking a vital part of the local news as an active reporter. She is also moving the hearts of the local news viewers with her story, “triumph of man” itself.

In the past Pohland broke her neck while diving in the pool, leaving only a few strips of nerves that can move the fingers, and caused total paralysis. She wanted to be a reporter from her childhood and was learning work in a broadcast station as an assistant agent at the time of her accident. After that accident she thought that there was nothing better than to die rather than to stay in the bed for the rest of her lifetime. However during her hospital inpatient weeks, she learned that there were more people who were in a worse condition than she was in. So she steadied her rehabilitation will and tried again for a broadcaster. Finally she came to college, studied mass communication, and finally became a reporter.

She first took care of studying events and organizing data. Though with strong willpower there were too much barriers to become a journalist. However she bought a disabled-special car to run wherever the scene of the incident was, managing conditions herself. Therefore the broadcast station approved her high reporter-capability, appointing her as a first-line reporter.

Although she didn’t have a superior agility than other journalists, she could hear deeper stories from her news sources, her scoop know-how.

Lately a girl in a wheelchair came to her and said with eyes full of determination; “I thought that there was nothing to do in this world. But when I saw you on the TV screen I decided to be a news reporter, too.“ Pohland thinks that she gave other disabled people new dreams while she achieved her goal.
