The Blue House can glorify and promote the president's words and actions to some extent. Nevertheless, the fact that the Cheonghae unit members, who were collectively infected with Covid-19, returned to Korea on an emergency flight because of the president's order to dispatch a transport plane that no one had thought of, raises anger beyond laughter. It is unnecessary to mention that the document prepared by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in June last year states the plan to dispatch transport planes. In an emergency situation where 90 percent of the 301 crew members are infected, what could be possibly there other than urgently bringing them back on a flight? It's hard to think of any alternative other than transport planes in the minds of ordinary people. In other words, an opposition lawmaker would have said, "Then, did you mean to bring them back on a raft?"

The presidential office’s statement that it was the President that made a direct order to implement evacuation measures quickly is also absurd. What other alternative is there to expedite the evacuation in that situation? It's like bragging that the army trained, and advertising that the teacher taught the students.

Cheonghae unit members say what happened inside the Moonmu-wang ship after the coronavirus first broke out on the 2nd was "like hell." The number of confirmed cases increased by dozens every day as they struggled with each other within narrow space in the ship where quarantine was meaningless. Some even said that he had to endure it by taking only Tylenol while throwing up blood. Recalling the nightmare of the past, the troops are throwing up the words "the nation has abandoned us" and "no more soldiers in the Republic of Korea." It is said that the upper part of the military has issued a secret order, "Don't tell the outside world about these things. In the meantime, the Blue House was busy glorifying President Moon.

The president and the Blue House have been bragging about "K-prevention" whenever they have time, but in such a "developed quarantine," they failed to send vaccines to soldiers dispatched abroad in advance, causing collective infections and disembarkation of all crew members. Despite the circumstances, the military boasts of bringing home infected troops under the name of Operation Oasis, and the Blue House calls the dispatch of the transport plane an original idea of the president. What a shameless bunch of people.

청해부대원 “국가가 우릴 버렸다”는데

청와대가 대통령의 언행을 어느 정도 미화해서 홍보할 수는 있다. 그렇다 해도 코로나에 집단감염된 청해부대원들이 비상 귀국하게 된 것이 “누구도 생각하지 못한 수송기 파견을 대통령이 지시한 덕분”이라고 포장한 대목은 실소를 넘어 분노까지 자아낸다. 합참이 작년 6월 작성한 코로나 대비 문건에 수송기 파견 계획이 적시돼 있다는 사실을 굳이 거론할 필요도 없다. 전체 승조원 301명 중 90%가 감염된 비상 상황에서 이들을 급하게 후송하는 수단이 비행기 말고 뭐가 있을 수 있나. 보통 사람들 머리로는 수송기 말고 다른 대안이 있을 수 있는지 좀처럼 떠오르지 않는다. 오죽하면 야당 의원이 “그렇다면 뗏목을 태워서 데려 오려 했단 얘기냐”고 했겠나.

청와대가 “후송 대책을 빨리 시행하라고 직접 지시한 것도 대통령”이라고 한 대목도 어처구니없기는 마찬가지다. 그 상황에서 빨리 후송하는 것 외에 무슨 대안이 있다고 이를 홍보하나. 군대가 훈련했다고 자랑하고, 교사가 학생 가르쳤다고 선전하는 것이나 마찬가지다.

청해부대 부대원들은 지난 2일 코로나 증상이 처음 발생한 이후 문무대왕함 안에서 벌어진 일들을 “지옥 같았다”고 전하고 있다. 격리가 무의미한 좁은 함정 내에서 서로 몸을 부대끼면서 매일 확진자가 수십 명씩 늘어났다. 피가래를 토하면서도 타이레놀 해열제만 먹으면서 버텨야 했다는 말도 나왔다. 부대원들은 악몽 같은 지난 일들을 떠올리며 “국가가 우리를 버렸다” “더 이상 대한민국에서 군인 못하겠다”는 말을 토해내고 있다. 상부에선 이런 일들을 “외부에 발설하지 말라”는 함구령을 내렸다고 한다. 그런 와중에 청와대는 문 대통령 미화 선전에 여념이 없었다.

대통령과 청와대는 ‘K방역'을 틈만 나면 자랑해 왔는데 그런 ‘방역 선진국'에서 해외에 파병된 장병들에게 백신을 미리 보내지 못해 집단감염이 발생하고 승조원 전원이 하선해야 하는 참담한 일이 벌어졌다. 사정이 이런데도 군은 감염 부대원 수송에 ‘오아시스 작전’이라는 이름을 붙여 자랑하고, 청와대는 수송기 파견을 대통령의 독창적인 아이디어라고 ‘문비어천가’를 부른다. 참으로 부끄러움을 모르는 사람들이다.
